I only got one face da da da da *

* from the song Blue Blood Blues by The Dead Weather

I only got one face da da da da.
I tried too long to erase.
You know if I left. da da da da.
I wouldn't leave a trace.

True Blood Season 3 Posters

Season 3 of True Blood has arrived with a huge bang (I'm sorry, my English is suffering, I couldn't be bothered to come up with a more original phrase).

I remember when I first watched season 1 I didn't like the show at all, especially since I pretty much spent my time dissing people who like vampire stuff and didn't want to admit to liking a show about vampires myself.

But somehow throughout season 2 it has grown on me (I think I will blame Alexander Skarsgard for this), and now I'm really excited for season 3. Well, as a friend put it for me: "as long as you are not into Twilight, it's okay".

I think this will be the best season yet, as this time we will dive into the nasty underground world of werewolves. There are many mysteries from the previous season too, such as Sam's parents (and the mystery of shape-shifters); what super-powers does Sookie have; who's trying to kidnap Bill; etc.

The first episode was a good head-start, albeit a moany one. Tara is as dead-beat as ever (I am beginning to miss the feisty bitchy Tara from season 1); Sam is randomly driving around in the hope of crashing his car into someone worthwhile; Jason is just pissing me off with his "I want to be a different person...but I just killed a man...holy cow, I just killed a man...", basically that's all he says during the entire episode (even while trying to screw two veterinary students from New York).

I just can't wait until the werewolves properly come into the story and all rotten shenanigans ensue. Plus, I spotted James Frain in the trailers, presumably playing a vampire and creeping Tara out (via hypnoses). I loved Frain's skin-crawling creepiness and icy demeanor as Thomas Cromwell in The Tudors, so looking forward to some of that in this season of True Blood.

Anyways, here are the two teaser trailers for the third season, which show snip-bits of what is to come later on:

(this one is my favourite out of the two, mainly because of the song by The Dead Weather in the background, but also because everyone is just so badass in this)

I have always also loved the creative viral posters and advertising of True Blood that the HBO team comes up with. Before each season they put up advertisements aimed specifically at "vampires", news stories which portray the world as if vampires really did exist, and put out blogs by random characters in the series, who talk about events as if they had really happened. My favourite ad from season 2 had to be these posters put up in New Zealand:

Of course season 3 has also seen it's share of amazing creative posters, here are some of them:

No one says it like Banksy (I presume this is his work by the style).

This is why you're fat *

Yes, the world's best football player holding a massive KFC bucket like a prison placard photograph. Seriously, is it just me, or does he look depressed in this?

...Depressed with a sparkle of evil in his eyes, like he's secretly saying, "ahahaah, you stupid bitches, go on, eat this bucket of KFC, and I'll watch the world bloat to massive proportions while remaining to be the best footballer in the world... *cackle cackle* ".

See what you have done KFC? You have made me think Messi is an evil mastermind. Are you happy now you bastards?

Yes, you knew this photo was coming up.

Okay, I won't usually be this bitchy, and compare an awesome footballer to a psychopath, but these damned KFC adverts keep coming up with my morning newspaper EVERY SINGLE DAY, and it's just annoying. I wonder if KFC is hoping to hypnotise football-crazy fans into thronging to the nearest KFC outlets for food (Pied Piper style and all) and yell "chicken...chicken...", while ripping through meat like high-speed zombies.

And speaking of football, how surprising to see the world no. 2 team (Spain) lose to Switzerland today. But I was secretly delighted, mainly because almost all people here support either Spain or Brazil (because our countries suck at football, so they never even remotely qualify to be supported), so having a football-behemoth team like Spain lose to the underdogs was sort of satisfying.

And speaking of underdogs, well done to DPR Korea for putting up an excellent defense, and even managing to score a goal (which no one was expecting). It would have been so wonderful if it had been a 1-1 draw...imagine a stalemate with world no. 1 Brazil...

Okay, I have just exhausted my year's worth of football talk in the paragraph above, and will wrap that up now (I'm not a football person, but since everyone in the universe has contracted the football fever, I might as well give-in). Last thing: looking forward to tomorrow's game between Argentina and South Korea; I loved watching Argentina's last game with Nigeria, so tomorrow should be quite fun too.

*Title from the blog This Is Why You're Fat. It's a fantastic blog (for the sole reason that the blog name is awesome; and all the pictures of the horrendous food makes me want to throw up, hence taking my mind off junk food, and making me want to eat veggies). For some weird reason, it has been removed from Tumblr by the owner.

Edit (27/07/2010): The blog is back up, I guess I was looking for it when the server was down. It's got a new layout now (better than before) and it's own custom domain. Here is a link to it.

For the past three years, I have had nothing but machinery whirling inside my head,

For the past month or so I have been delaying putting up blog posts, in the hope that I will write about the Vietnam trip. But seriously, whenever I sit down to write it, only 2 rubbish paragraphs come out, followed by a brain block.

So I thought "fuck it"; it's better to just write the damn thing in my own time, and in the mean time put up other blog posts, because I have been bursting to post up so many different things, but this Vietnam post has been blocking me.
